Basic Radio Usage Guide

Before You Transmit

Listen first - Check if the channel is clear before transmitting
Think before you speak - Plan your message to keep it brief
Press PTT (Push-To-Talk) - Wait 1 second before speaking
Hold radio 2-3 inches from mouth - Speak clearly and at normal volume
Release PTT when done - Listen for response

Basic Radio Protocol

Keep messages brief - Radio is for quick coordination, not conversation
Use callsigns - "[Recipient], this is [Your callsign]"
Wait for acknowledgment - Confirm message received with "Copy" or "Roger"
Avoid sensitive info - PMR446 is NOT encrypted, anyone can listen
Use standard prowords - See Doctrine for full list
